EC initiatives, LinkedIn Talent Insights discussed at CESAER Task Force Benchmark Meeting
The International Collaboration Department (ICD) staff at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute attended the meeting of the Task Force Benchmark of the CESAER association (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research) that took place fully online on 1 October 2024.
The meeting agenda covered several key points, including EC initiatives and the LinkedIn Talent Insights platform.
Peter Elspass, Head of University Development and Controlling at Leibniz University Hannover, provided an update on the European Higher Education Sector Observatory (EHESO) platform. The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture is launching EHESO to streamline data collection and analysis for higher education institutions across Europe. EHESO will centralize various EU data tools and sources, allowing institutions to monitor and compare performance in areas like inclusion, digital skills, and employability. The initiative aims to reduce the data collection burden while ensuring comprehensive, reliable insights through a survey starting in October 2024. Institutions are invited to participate in the survey, which will support strategic planning, benchmarking, and policy influence.
Touko Narhi, Advisor for Benchmark & Higher Education made the short introduction to Research and Innovation Careers Observatory (ReICO) initiative. ReICO is a joint initiative by the European Commission and OECD, funded partly by the Horizon Europe Programme. Its aims include providing reliable data on research and innovation (R&I) talent, developing new methodologies for R&I careers, and supporting decision-makers with better insights into R&I career trends.
In addition, Peter Elspass gave a presentation on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at the Leibniz Universitat Hannover, followed by collaborative discussion on KPIs used by member universities.
Maria Eugenia Renaldi, Head of Academics Iberia | LinkedIn Talent Solution, gave a general presentation on LinkedIn Talent Insights. According to her, seven new members join this platform every second.
Morris Villarroel from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM) then shared UPM’s experiences in applying LinkedIn’s Talent Insights service to their institutional data.
LinkedIn Talent Insights is an add-on to the LinkedIn social media platform that provides users with relevant insights from the largest professional network in the world, with one billion members and 16 million job posts, among other data sources. The information is in real time, including skill trends, job offers, companies hiring and member information.
In the final part of the meeting, upcoming meetings and events were confirmed, including an online task force meeting scheduled for 5 February 2025, and the fifth in-person meeting of Task Force Benchmark 2024-2025 in Bucharest in spring 2025, hosted by the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest.
