Kyiv Polytechnic hosts 9th Italian Design Day devoted to Ukraine reconstruction
The Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has once again become a partner of one of the most significant international events – the 9th Italian Design Day. This year’s theme, “Design for Reconstruction: Inclusiveness and Innovation,” is especially relevant to Kyiv Polytechnic, as the university endeavors to create an educational space that is both inclusive and comfortable for all. In this effort, the best Italian practices and technologies will be of great benefit.
The event brought together leading Italian and Ukrainian industry experts, designers, architects, and students, along with Carlo Formosa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Ukraine. In his address, the Italian Ambassador emphasized the importance of cooperation in design and architecture, affirming Italy’s readiness to contribute its innovative and inclusive solutions to Ukraine’s reconstruction.
“We will be working not only to rebuild our cities and towns, but also to help our people recover from a severe trauma. Therefore we need historians, sociologists, psychologists, and, of course, engineers to join our team,” said Tetiana Ivanochko, CEO & Partner of the MAKHNO studio of architecture and design. “Today design should combine aesthetics and function, and this is impossible without engineering expertise, especially in architecture. We welcome collaboration. At our studio, we very much appreciate young, talented, smart people, so if this sparks your interest, we will enthusiastically respond to proposals for traineeship opportunities for your students.”
This large-scale event is instrumental in expanding the cultural partnership between Kyiv Polytechnic and Italy while generating joint ideas and initiatives to restore the Ukrainian critical infrastructure.
