Kyiv Polytechnic delegation at CAM 2025

From 22 to 24 October 2025, a delegation from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, composed of Rector Anatolii Melnychenko and the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Andrii Shysholin, took part in the 39th General Assembly, the CESAER Annual Meetings 2025 (CAM 2025) of the leaders of this European association of universities of science and technology. The General Assembly was hosted by Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic.

On 24 October, Orla Feely (President of University College Dublin) was re-elected as President of CESAER. The General Assembly decided that Orla Feely should continue leading the association for a second two-year term from 2026 to 2027.

Commenting on her re-election, President Orla Feely said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as President of CESAER and to witness first-hand the dedication, creativity and impact of our Member universities, and the work we do together. In a time of great change, I believe deeply in the importance of our community — the strong and united voice of universities of science and technology across Europe. I look forward to continuing this journey together.”

Orla Feely previously served as CESAER Vice President and Treasurer from 2019 to 2021, and in 2024, she became President of CESAER for the first time.

The General Assembly also elected eight Directors for a four-year term from 2026 to 2029.

The highlight of the CAM 2025 was the General Assembly, whose agenda included the following items:

  • Adoption of association’s decisions taken since the 38th Annual Meetings;
  • Brainstorm toward Strategy 2030, featuring discussion of the document “Leading transformation across science, technology and society”;
  • Discussion of the Work Plan 2026-2027;
  • Elections of the association’s President and Directors 2026-2029;
  • Any other business.

In addition, a series of satellite events unfolded, among them:

  • Leadership track session “Competitiveness by design: Leadership in STEM from lab to global impact”;
  • High-level conference with speakers and leaders from Europe and beyond – featuring Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen (Director-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture at the European Commission) and Amitava Mitra (Executive Director of New Engineering Education Transformation at Massachusetts Institute of Technology) – focused on shaping the future of STEM education.

Coincidentally, participants celebrated the 35th anniversary of CESAER’s founding in 1990.

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is an active member of the association, contributing to the work of CESAER Task Forces, particularly in the realm of research and innovation, digital transformation, openness of science and technology, sustainable development. Kyiv Polytechnic representatives regularly participate in CESAER’s annual assemblies, forums and meetings, promoting the integration of Ukrainian higher education into the European Research Area.
