Kyiv Polytechnic hosts international conference on biosafety, innovative rehabilitation technologies

For the fifth time, the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute became a venue for professional dialogue between educators, medical scientists, and practitioners. Experts from Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and Australia presented their technological developments and exchanged experience.

The format of the Fifth International Scientific and Practical Conference “Biosafety and Modern Rehabilitation Technologies: Theory, Practice, Prospects” included:

  • more than 50 scientific presentations;
  • innovations in the field of rehabilitation;
  • discussions about professional training of specialists in rehabilitation; and
  • exchange of experience among educational institutions, clinics, and research centres.

A new feature of this year’s conference was an open session devoted to public health, which is becoming vitally important in the context of war and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

During the conference, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Kyiv Polytechnic’s Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBME) and the Mercy & Health rehabilitation centre. The partnership aims to combine research with clinical work to ensure quality training and professional development of budding rehabilitation specialists.

Another notable initiative announced at the conference was the launch of an educational programme in prosthetics and orthotics at FBME, starting next academic year, to train specialists capable of rendering rehabilitation services and helping as many Ukrainians as possible to return to an active life.
