International Forum “Human Capital 2024. Value. Quality. Development” in Kyiv Polytechnic

The International Forum “Human Capital 2024”, held for the fifth time in Ukraine, took place this year at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. For the first time, our university partnered with this significant event, initiated by the National Qualifications Agency.

The forum gathered over 5,000 online participants and more than 50 speakers, including legislators, government officials, members of the European Commission, business leaders, educators, and representatives of top qualification centers. Together, they explored effective strategies and solutions for developing Ukraine’s human capital.

Ukraine is currently grappling with an acute human capital crisis due to war and migration. This challenge is not limited to losing people; it extends to losing the quality of human capital. The qualification system is, therefore, critical in rebuilding and modernizing the workforce. “Every year, we overcome challenges and achieve results: 136 qualification centers in Ukraine now operate in alignment with over 340 professional standards,” emphasized Yurii Balaniuk, Head of the National Qualifications Agency.

Key topics discussed at the forum included:

  • European integration of qualification systems;
  • Qualification centers: opportunities and prospects;
  • Regulated professions: benefits, risks, and implementation strategies;
  • Professional qualifications awarded by higher education institutions;
  • Development of the qualification system.

Kyiv Polytechnic is actively working to align professional and educational qualifications by establishing qualification centers. One such center, located at the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management, offers certification for the profession of energy auditor. “Shortly, in collaboration with the National Qualifications Agency, we plan to open additional qualification centers for several other professions,” announced Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

The International Forum “Human Capital 2024. Value. Quality. Development” hosted at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute marked an essential step toward modernizing Ukraine’s qualification system and integrating it into the European qualification framework.
