Care and Collaboration: Joining forces with French institution to heal heroic defenders of Ukraine

The tour of French universities and research institutions by the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s delegation concluded with a meaningful visit to the Institution Nationale des Invalides in Paris. This is a unique French institution that has been supporting military personnel suffering injuries for over three centuries.

The meeting focused on two key areas of cooperation:

  • Continued cooperation in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of wounded military personnel;
  • Joint work on the design and enhancement of prostheses tailored to individual needs.

For Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, this initiative goes beyond scientific interest. It is a well-defined mission: to realise its engineering and medical potential in developing technologies capable of restoring wounded soldiers’ lives shattered by the heinous Russia’s aggression.

Experts at Institution Nationale des Invalides shared their experience of combining rehabilitation, prosthetics, and psychosocial support into a single, integrated system. This approach offers a blueprint for new initiatives in Ukraine, which is endeavouring to develop its own sustainable infrastructure for recovery.
