Kyiv Polytechnic students, staff have open dialogue with Poland’s Deputy Science Minister
A Polish official delegation, led by Andrzej Szeptycki, Undersecretary of State in the Poland’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education responsible for international cooperation, visited the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in early September. The visit took place within the framework of the Fifth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held in Kyiv on the theme ‘Education Shaping the World‘.
After passing through the Walk of Fame, which pays tribute to distinguished scientists and designers closely connected with Kyiv Polytechnic, and being introduced to their lives and work, the guests visited the Scientific and Technical Library named after Hryhorii Denysenko, Kyiv Polytechnic Rector from 1971 to 1987.
Further, Andrzej Szeptycki delivered a lecture entitled “Educational and Scientific Diplomacy in the Digital Age” to students, faculty and staff, in the CLUST SPACE smart shelter.
The lecture gave rise to a lively dialogue. During a question-and-answer session that followed, the speaker and the audience reflected on topical issues about the development of education and science. In particular, they discussed how educational and scientific diplomacy helps the country to survive, tighten security, develop the economy, and promote history and cultural heritage; the challenges facing educational and scientific diplomacy during wartime; the impact of digital technologies on the development of education and science; why the democratisation of education is not a trend but a necessity; the importance of international cooperation between educational institutions, including participation in European university alliances.
So exciting and compelling were the subject of the lecture, the speaker, and the dialogue with him that the barrage of questions did not subside for a long time, with Andrzej Szeptycki overrunning the time allotted for his visit to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in his busy schedule.
