In UK, Kyiv Polytechnic participates in Ukrainian Week mottoed ‘Discover Ukraine: Week of Knowledge and Culture’
Serhii Stirenko, Vice-Rector for Research, and Oksana Vovk, Director of the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, visited universities in the United Kingdom as members of a Ukrainian delegation seeking to further cooperation in higher education and science within the UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative, and joint projects under Horizon Europe, among others. Specifically, they visited Cardiff University, Birkbeck University of London, and University College London.
Kyiv Polytechnic’s scientific projects in the fields of cybersecurity, miltech, humanitarian demining, and more were presented during the visit to Cardiff University.
During the Ukrainian Week that took place in the UK in mid November under the motto: “Discover Ukraine: A Week of Knowledge and Culture,” six leading British universities joined the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies (GCUS). The main goal of this initiative of the Ukrainian government is to promote better understanding of Ukraine and to develop Ukrainian studies in higher education institutions worldwide. Over 12 months, 24 universities across the globe, including Canada, the United States, Norway, Austria, and Japan, have joined the coalition.
Ukrainian Week 2025 was staged by the GCUS under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska, in close coordination with the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science, and Sports; the Ukrainian Institute; and the Representative Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The Week was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the British Council in Ukraine, the International Renaissance Foundation, and the Initiative Centre for Promoting Activity and Development of the Public Initiative “Unity”. British partners such as the UK–Ukraine Twinning Initiative and the Cormack Consultancy Group, as well as leading British universities, also contributed to its organisation.
