DAAD Research Internship 2026 at the University of Hamburg

The University of Hamburg announces the call for applications for the international Research Internship 2026, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service.

The internship is offered within the framework of the research project “Hate on the Internet”, which focuses on digital hate, online aggression, and related social and educational constructs among young people. The project is implemented in close cooperation with partner institutions in Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Germany.

The programme combines remote research collaboration with an intensive on-site research stay at the University of Hamburg.

Who can apply

The call is open to:

  • advanced students,
  • graduates,
  • early-career researchers

in the following fields:

  • psychology,
  • education,
  • social sciences (and related disciplines).

What the internship offers

Participants will:

  • take part in an international research project;
  • design and conduct an independent empirical study aligned with the project’s thematic focus;
  • work with and analyse research data;
  • contribute to research discussions and academic exchange;
  • participate in a research stay in Germany.

The programme offers:

  • a paid research stay in Germany;
  • close academic supervision and mentoring;
  • integration into an international DAAD-funded research project;
  • opportunities for academic development, networking, and potential co-authorship.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants should have:

  • an academic background in psychology, education, or a related social science discipline;
  • knowledge of quantitative statistical methods;
  • excellent command of English;
  • strong motivation for independent research.
