Kyiv Polytechnic strengthens cooperation with École Centrale de Lyon
Recently, a Ukrainian delegation, including representatives of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine, visited France’s École Centrale de Lyon.
As part of the ERASMUS+ project, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation. Particular attention was paid to distance learning that is vital in the context of today’s Ukraine, as well as to civil protection in confined spaces such as metro stations and tunnels – fields in which French colleagues possess considerable scientific competence.
Rector Anatolii Melnychenko represented Kyiv Polytechnic. During the visit, Anatolii Melnychenko and Pascal Ray, Director of École Centrale de Lyon signed a Framework Agreement on Academic Cooperation and an Agreement on a Double Degree Programme.
Pascal Ray wrote in LinkedIn post that their institution was very proud to welcome the Ukrainian delegation. He expressed his gratitude to the Departmental-Metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service Lyon, which shared its knowledge in the field of civil protection, thereby giving a full and meaningful value to regional cooperation.
He also commended the contribution of Anton Korniienko, a lecturer and researcher at Centrale Lyon, thanking him for his “tireless engagement in this collaboration, which allows us — albeit modestly — to stand with our Ukrainian colleagues”.
