Kyiv Polytechnic participates in panel discussion on development of science parks in Ukraine
Representatives of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute participated in the panel discussion on the development of science parks in Ukraine, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science in cooperation with the YEP ecosystem of innovative entrepreneurship. In particular, the discussion explored important issues about the transformation of science within universities as one of the drivers of Ukraine’s innovative development.
Given that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has the largest number of science parks among Ukrainian higher education institutions, Andrii Shysholin, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Kyiv Polytechnic, presented a model of the university’s innovation ecosystem and detailed the operations of three science parks (SP):
- SP Kyivska Politechnika, focused on classical applied scientific research in engineering, information and communication technologies, energy and defence;
- SP Fincord-Polytech, which backs innovations and the development of critical technologies;
- SP Sikorsky Challenge Additive Technologies, which incorporates research, 3D modelling, startups, and engineering developments in the realm of biomedical engineering.
Nataliia Seminska, Director of Sikorsky Challenge Additive Technologies, accentuated the practical aspects of the park’s launch and ongoing operations, as well as its role in restoring human capital and creating new jobs.
In addition, the meeting delved into the concept of Science City as a forward-looking model that envisions the integration of universities, science parks, government, and business in order to develop innovations.
