Newly appointed Japanese ambassador visits Kyiv Polytechnic, its Ukraine-Japan Center

For the first time, Masashi Nakagome, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, visited the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. His visit included an introduction to the university’s Ukraine-Japan Center, one of the key hubs of Japanese culture in Ukraine.

 “This is my first visit to your university, and I am greatly impressed that many people can study not only the Japanese language but also Japanese culture at the Kyiv Polytechnic’s Ukraine-Japan Center,” said Ambassador Nakagome. “I am sure that our further cooperation in various areas will help accelerate the reestablishment of peace in Ukraine.”

The visit underscored the continuation of close and effective cooperation between Japan and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a partnership that has flourished over several years and produced significant results in cultural, educational, scientific, and economic spheres. Currently, top Japanese companies, such as Cognitive Research Labs Co., Ltd., and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) count themselves among the Kyiv Polytechnic’s partners.

 “Our university enjoys fruitful cooperation with the Embassy of Japan and Japanese universities, and since russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this cooperation has deepened significantly,” stated Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. “At present, there are several projects that we will continue to carry out, including the support of our Ukraine-Japan Center.”

The visit marked another step in strengthening the enduring ties between Japan and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, emphasizing a shared commitment to cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and the pursuit of peace.
