Kyiv Polytechnic researchers involved in €400K project to explore boride materials
Turkey’s Kütahya Dumlupınar University (DPÜ) has received the first grant under the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme for the project titled “High Entropy Boride Materials for Energy Storage Devices”.
With a budget of €400,000, this 36-month project is intended to research and develop high entropy boride materials for energy storage devices in the Kütahya region, which boasts the largest world reserves of boron.
The project team includes experts from DPÜ, Sabancı University, and the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, namely Prof. Yurii Bohomol and Associate Professor Yevhen Solodkyi.
The state-run Turkish aerospace company, TUSAŞ, also supports the project, underscoring the strategic importance of the research.
DPÜ Rector, Prof. Süleyman Kızıltoprak, pointed out that boron-related research is a priority for the university, given the abundant reserves of this chemical element in the region. He emphasized that the project would not only contribute to the development of energy storage technologies but also enhance the university’s international reputation.
As this project unfolds, it promises to unearth the potential of boride materials, laying the groundwork for innovations in energy storage and strengthening ties between the Turkish universities and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
