NATO SCIENCE FOR PEACE AND SECURITY PROGRAM

In 2006, the NATO North Atlantic Council approved the proposal of the Alliance member countries to create a new NATO Committee on Science for Peace and Security. The new committee was the result of a broad initiative to restructure the working bodies of the Alliance, which combined the best aspects of the former NATO Scientific Committee and the Committee on Challenges to Modern Society. The NATO Committee on Science for Peace and Security has become the key committee of the Alliance, which supports practical cooperation in civil science and innovation and connects science with society through projects that begin and are implemented under the existing procedures of the Science for Peace and Security Program.
