COMPETITION OF UKRAINIAN-LATVIAN PROJECTS FOR 2023-2024
From June 6 to September 2, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Latvian Council of Science announce a competition for joint Ukrainian-Latvian research projects for implementation in 2023-2024.
Priority areas:
energy and energy efficiency;
ecology and environmental management, including marine research, in particular pollution with chemicals and microplastics;
new technologies for the prevention and treatment of the most common diseases, research in biotechnology, bioengineering and genetics;
new materials;
social sciences and humanities.
The competition is open to any research groups of higher education institutions, research institutions of both countries. More information about the application, selection criteria, etc. – at the link.
USING THE WEB OF SCIENCE PLATFORM: WEBINARS FOR SCIENTISTS
In June, a series of free webinars in Ukrainian on the use of the Web of Science platform will be held for scientists. During the webinars, students will be able to learn about the possibilities of the platform, impact analysis and selection of publications to publish the results of their own research.

OPPORTUNITIES FROM
THE NATIONAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF UKRAINE
The National Research Foundation of Ukraine continues to provide information on current opportunities for Ukrainian scientists abroad due to the war.
Labsarena’s platform for researchers, laboratories and manufacturers hosts a database of opportunities for Ukrainian scientists. The link contains proposals from different countries and institutions in various areas of research.
The Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics INFN is holding a competition for grants for scientific or technical research. Details – here.
The Estonian Research Council is preparing measures to fund scientists who were forced to leave Ukraine and come to Estonia. Visit euraxess.ee or contact them directly: euraxess @ etag.
In the OCRE project, the National Research Council provides researchers with funding for cloud infrastructure and related projects, as well as Earth observation services. All information is on the site.
Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen has set up its own fund to support Ukrainian researchers. In addition to a fundraising campaign for refugee students and researchers from Ukraine, the university has set up an emergency fund with research scholarships to support Ukrainian scientists in dangerous cities. The Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers helps both researchers and those involved in scientific management with finances and employment. The list of research centers and contacts is here.
The Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) has launched a program to support researchers fleeing the war in Ukraine. They will be able to work in Luxembourg’s state research institutions on ongoing FNR projects for a maximum of six months. Details at this link.
The PAUSE program, headed by the Collège de France, has created a special PAUSE-Ukraine program. The program focuses on providing emergency care to Ukrainian scientists. More details are here.
ALLEA is announcing a competition for the first line of funding for the European Foundation for Migrant Scientists (EFDS). The program will offer a monthly scholarship for up to 12 months. For applications to be considered in the first stage, they must be submitted by July 1. Details are at the link.
The German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation helps scientists who are in danger in their homeland. As part of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative, foreign scholars receive a scholarship or employment contract to conduct research at universities or other research organizations. COOPERATION BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE AND MITACS: 600 UKRAINIAN STUDENTS
JOIN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LEADING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet and Mitacs Director General and Senior Research Director John Hepburn signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. In 2019, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine joined the Mitacs program due to its popularity among Ukrainian students and the unique opportunities it provides to educators and young scientists.
Under the memorandum, 600 motivated students, graduate students, and researchers from Ukraine will be able to visit Canada and join the implementation of leading research projects and research.
