Kick off meeting of the NURECAB EURATOM WP 2023-2025 project
On September 5-6, 2024, the kick-off meeting of the NURECAB project (“EU-UA Nuclear Research and Education Capacity Building”, GA# 101173510) was held in Kyiv, which officially started the implementation of the project within the framework of the EURATOM Work Program for 2023-2025. The event was held in two stages, bringing together representatives of the NURECAB consortium and stakeholders.
The event was attended by representatives of Euratom Programme of the European Commission, Joint Research Center of the European Commission, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, European Nuclear Society, European Nuclear Education Network, JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, as well as leading Ukrainian universities and research centers.
On September 5, the open part of the event was held, at which representatives of the coordinator and partners of the NURECAB consortium presented a detailed plan for the implementation of the project, which consists of measures to support nuclear education in Ukraine and the integration of the Ukrainian scientific community into the Euratom Research and Training Program. The main goal of the project is to improve the educational and academic system of Ukraine in order to increase personnel potential and ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, to improve interaction between European and Ukrainian scientists in the nuclear sector under the Euratom Program.
In the afternoon, project partners focused on internal discussions dedicated to work on individual work packages (WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, WP5) of the project.
The second day of the meeting, which took place at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, began with a meeting of the WP6 working group and a discussion of administrative issues of the project. After summarizing the results of the working meeting, the participants had the opportunity to take part in an excursion to the nuclear training center of NTUU KPI named after Igor Sikorsky.
As a result of the kick-off meeting, actions related to the implementation of plans and the achievement of the goals of the first year of implementation of the NURECAB project were discussed. The nearest events from the project in September – October 2024:
