Socially significant project carried out by Kyiv Polytechnic, PUT

For over a year, specialists from the Faculty of Management and Marketing (FMM) at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, together with Polish colleagues from Poznan University of Technology (PUT), have been carrying out a project of deep social relevance – “Increasing the capacity of local communities to counteract crisis situations” under the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.

The purpose of the project is to come up with effective solutions that enable Ukrainian communities to respond rapidly, competently and efficiently to various challenges – be it military operations or emergencies.

The project’s results were summed up at the international scientific-practical session, which brought together Ukrainian and Polish experts and practitioners. During the event, participants:

  • Discussed the outcomes of the project and examined the effective models of crisis management;
  • Exchanged the experience of crisis management during wartime (drawing on the example of the Bucha district in the Kyiv region) and peacetime (using the Poznan district as a case study);
  • Shared insights from trainings in crisis management provided for students, postgraduates and residents of territorial communities in Ukraine and Poland;
  • Held discussion panels focused on countering Russian aggression and reinforcing the resilience of local communities;
  • Considered recommendations containing concrete proposals for strengthening communities both in times of a crisis and periods of development and recovery.

The Ukrainian war experience complemented by the Polish peacetime governance model form the basis for a new anti-crisis management that will help communities to adapt, mobilise resources and act promptly and effectively.
