Kyiv Polytechnic team triumphs in international cybersecurity competition
Students of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute were rated first among 787 teams in an international cybersecurity competition. Specifically, the dcua team from the Kyiv Polytechnic’s Institute of Physics and Technology won DEADFACE CTF 2025 – a free, online, jeopardy-style Capture the Flag competition that immersed players in the ongoing battle against the fictional hacker group DEADFACE.
After solving complex challenges across cryptography, exploitation, forensics, reversing, web, OSINT, and more, the Kyiv Polytechnic team outperformed 787 participant teams that produced a non-zero result. In particular, the dcua team received a $300 prize, earning 70,300 Rating points.
Hosted by the US-based nonprofit Cyber Hacktics on 25-26 October 2025, DEADFACE CTF attracted thousands of participants worldwide who wanted to sharpen their cybersecurity skills, collaborate in teams, and experience a unique story-infused competition.
