Danish delegation visits Kyiv Polytechnic: satellites, robotics set as cooperation priorities
The Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute served as a venue for a working meeting that brought together representatives of the University of Southern Denmark, Aalborg University, the Fincord-Polytech Science Park, and Skyfall – a Ukrainian technology company focused on the development and production of unmanned aerial systems.
During the meeting, the participants discussed specific steps towards launching joint projects across several areas.
Among them is research in microelectronics, telecommunications, radio engineering and power engineering – disciplines in which Kyiv Polytechnic has traditionally maintained strong scientific schools. These fields are of vital importance to both modern defence and civil industries, therefore it is perfectly natural that the Danish universities take a keen interest in them.
Another area is the establishment of joint laboratories at Kyiv Polytechnic’s faculties and institutes. Together with students and researchers, partners are supposed to develop and test cutting-edge technologies in these labs. Such approach will enable students to engage in real international projects whilst pursuing their studies, rather than only after graduation from the university.
Special attention was also paid to educational programmes and academic exchanges, with an emphasis on practical experience. The participants stressed that students and young researchers should have a real opportunity to participate in joint projects, going beyond the mere exchange of theoretical knowledge.
Last but far from least, the meeting addressed the formation of a university-to-business partnership. This deals with a system whereby technological developments created in university laboratories are further refined into a marketable product, supported by business partners. For Kyiv Polytechnic, this opens new channels for commercialising its research and entering the international market.
The Danish delegation was also introduced to the technological developments of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, particularly CubeSats and ground-based robotics — the areas identified as priority lines of cooperation.
