ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
International Collaboration Department of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute operates in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine, including
- “On Education” (Section XI “International Cooperation”)
- “On Higher Education” (Section XIII “International Cooperation”)
- Laws pertaining to Scientific and Scientific and Technical Activities
- Laws regarding Foreign Economic Activity.”
Additionally, the department adheres to other legal frameworks governing the activities of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ukraine concerning international endeavors.
The primary objectives of the International Collaboration Department at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute are as follows:
- Integration of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute into the international and European educational and scientific landscape by implementing measures to foster international activities and enhance the university’s internationalization processes.
- Coordination of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s international endeavors across all domains, offering comprehensive support to the university’s structural units, particularly in the education of foreign students.
- Undertaking activities to search, analyze, and select proposals from foreign partners based on criteria such as investment attractiveness and feasibility, thereby increasing the number of project proposals from departments and facilitating the acquisition of funds from international sources for implementing international scientific, educational, and other projects and programs at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
- Providing protocol support for international events, preparing and conducting negotiations with foreign partners, and finalizing agreements, protocols, memoranda, etc., to position Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute as a model of an international educational, scientific, innovative, and information complex at the European level. This involves enhancing the university’s international image and reputation, particularly through its presence in international and national university rankings.
- Implementing international standards of quality assurance, transparency, cooperation in academic mobility, mutual recognition of educational achievements, and adopting a project-based approach in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s international activities across all levels of the organizational structure and student governance.
- Supporting international agreements and state-level projects, international institutional reform projects at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and expanding the university’s engagement in global and regional international organizations, alliances, projects, and programs, while fostering interaction with influential global organizations and progressive media outlets.
The implementation of the primary tasks of international cooperation at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is organized into groups of activities, which shape the structure of the department, overseen by the Vice-Rector for International Relations and the Director of the Department of International Cooperation:
- International Relations Office is responsible for developing and executing plans for Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s international activities. This includes preparing for and participating in the negotiation and management of partnership agreements and memoranda of cooperation with foreign higher education institutions, companies, organizations, and university associations. The department facilitates joint research and educational initiatives, providing support and coordination throughout their implementation. It also promotes the university’s involvement in international technical, humanitarian, and charitable activities, both at the departmental level and university-wide.
- International Projects Office offers guidance and coordinates the university’s and individual departments’ participation in international scientific, technical, and educational projects and programs. It develops a network of international offices led by department heads to drive the university’s international activities. Additionally, the department promotes the university’s engagement with National Contact Points of the EU Framework Programmes and fosters the development of joint research with foreign institutions in areas supporting international scientific and technical cooperation. The university maintains an Information Platform for International Project and Grant Program Opportunities (“International Mosaic”), offering resources for researchers seeking international partners, forming consortia, and preparing and submitting project proposals for international programs.
- International Activities Organisational Support Office organizes Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s international engagements, including protocol events and arrangements for internships, business trips, and distance learning abroad. It liaises with organizations directly involved in international cooperation and collaborates with foreign embassies and representative offices of international organizations in Ukraine on matters related to the university’s international cooperation. Additionally, the department is responsible for organizing relevant events.
- International Educational Rankings Office establishes a system of managerial influence on subdivisions to enhance performance indicators contributing to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s overall rankings. It oversees the collection, systematization, and dissemination of data related to the university’s activities to world and specialized ranking portals such as QS, THE, and ARWU.
- Centre for International Education manages admissions and supports educational activities for foreign students. The university offers a one-year preparatory department where foreign students study disciplines necessary for their subsequent university program.
The duration of study varies:
- Bachelor’s degree: 4 years
- Master’s degree (educational and professional program): 1 year 4 months
- Master’s degree (educational and scientific program): 1 year 9 months
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): 4 years
- Doctor of Science: 2 years
