Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute starts сooperation with Ariel University
On January 12, Igor Sikorsky KPI management held an online meeting with their colleagues from the University of Ariel (the State of Israel). Israeli educators and scholars were represented by Rector of Ariel University Albert Pinhasov, Assistant to the President of the University for Projects and Cooperation, Director of Strategic Project Development Nadezhda Yermakova. Igor Sikorsky KPI was accordingly represented by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a Rector of the University Mykhailo Zgurovsky, a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vice-Rector for International Relations Sergii Sydorenko, President of Kyiv Polytechnic Science Park Bohdan Andriytsev, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering Vitalii Maksymenko and an Assistant Rector Bogdan Duda. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects of the partnership between the two universities.
The areas of cooperation considered by the parties as acceptable for the cooperation development were academic mobility programs, joint developments in the field of scientific innovation and technology transfer, research.
Commenting on the course and results of the meeting, Bogdan Andriytsev noted that the University of Ariel is actively developing, and many of the latest and most promising projects are being implemented in this institution. Whereas Igor Sikorsky KPI is an ancient fundamental school with well-known traditions, therefore this is where an effective and interesting collaboration between the two universities may be built. He also expressed his hope that the startup spirit of Israeli universities will manage to settle at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Insitute.
Vitalii Maksymenko noted: “There are areas that directly concern our faculty of biomedical engineering, the department that deals with medical instrumentation. And, of course, this is the field that will interest our colleagues from the University of Israel.”
Sergii Sydorenko named several adherent points between KPI and Ariel University on cybersecurity, nanotechnology materials, biomedical engineering, and the fight against terrorism. He stressed that it is quite possible to develop these areas quickly and raise them to a new level.

Ariel University was founded in 1982. Now its four faculties (humanities, engineering, medicine and natural sciences) have more than 15,000 students. The university has research centers: alternative energy sources, development of counter-terrorism tools, materials research, robotics, and free-electron accelerator. Many university scientists play a key role in Israeli and world science, combining pedagogical activities with scientific developments in such fields as robotics, electro-optics, conducting research on cancer, and more.
