The 32nd meeting of the universities of the UNICA network
On June 29 – July 1, 2022, the 32nd seminar of the General Assembly and a meeting of rectors and representatives of the universities of the capital regions of Europe in the UNICA network on the topic “Leading universities in times of crisis and change” took place in Dublin.
After more than two years of online meetings, UNICA and the on-site host of the event, University College Dublin, were looking forward to welcoming participants to Dublin for the most crucial meeting in the UNICA network’s annual schedule of events. At the same time, options for remote participation and online voting were provided for those who could not attend the event in person.
The program of the meeting included meetings of the Supervisory Board, an executive session of the UNICA General Assembly, information panels, and a Rectors’ Seminar.
The European higher education landscape has undergone extraordinary transformations and faced extraordinary global challenges in the last few years. The Rector’s Seminar provided the academic leaders of UNICA member universities with the opportunity to discuss the strategies that higher education institutions are creating to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and ensure the university education of the future.
During the second day, three round tables were held as part of a workshop aimed at providing insight and sharing experiences on how UNICA member universities are responding to the challenges currently facing European higher education:
Session I – Focus on Ukraine. Crisis management, scientific diplomacy, academic values. During this session, the participants listened to a representative from Ukraine, Serhii SIDORENKO, vice-rector for international relations at Igor Sikorsky KPI.
Session II — post-Covid management and adaptation of higher education for the future.
III session — Restoration of sustainability.
