Statement on the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) Principle

As a proud member of the CESAER association of European universities of science & technology (https://www.cesaer.org/), the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” supports the position of CESAER on the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) principle.

While we welcome the concept behind the DNSH principle and underline our full commitment to the green transition, we also believe that the implementation of the DNSH principle should not be counterproductive and weaken the contribution of the R&I community to sustainability and green objectives.

Furthermore, we fully support the Amendment 165 proposed in European Parliament (https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/CJ13-AM-742524_EN.html) stating that “programmes and activities shall, where feasible, appropriate and proportionate, in accordance with the relevant sector-specific rule, be implemented to achieve their set objectives without doing significant harm to the environmental objectives of climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, the sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources, the transition to a circular economy, pollution prevention and control and the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems, as set out in Article 9 of Regulation (EU) 2020/852 of the European Parliament and of the Council”.

We are committed to working towards a sustainable future and will continue to support initiatives that promote environmentally responsible practices.
