Igor Sikorsky KPI Leads in Ukrainian HEIs’ Major Research Projects Competitions
On March 12, a rating assessing the effectiveness of Ukrainian HEIs’ involvement in major research project competitions (both international and domestic) in 2023 was released. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute secured the top position in this rating.
The Centre for International Projects “Euroeducation” (https://euroosvita.net/) compiled this rating using data from various open sources, including the EU Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS), EACEA Projects Results Platform, Ministry of Education and Science (MES), Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (CMU), and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
In light of the notable reduction in funding for Ukrainian HEIs in 2023 under the program 2201040 “Scientific and Scientific and Technical Activities of Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutions” from the general fund, universities made concerted efforts to enhance their participation in grant activities.
The top ten universities in Ukraine, with the number of competitions won by each institution in brackets, are as follows:
- National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (6)
- Lviv Polytechnic National University (5)
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (5)
- Sumy State University (5)
- Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (3)
