Renewable energy laboratory, wind energy lecture hall open at Kyiv Polytechnic

Recently, a renewable energy laboratory and a wind energy lecture hall have opened at the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management to train specialists, who will rebuild Ukraine’s energy sector, within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the DTEK Renewables company and the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

“We are delighted to contribute to the development of future specialists for the energy sector of Ukraine, together with Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” said Oleksandr Selishchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables. “I am sure that the renovated classrooms and cutting-edge technical equipment will help optimize the educational process for teachers and students. May this project inspire and encourage young professionals to acquire new knowledge and apply it effectively in restoring Ukraine’s power potential.”

The new educational and research laboratory comprises:

  • Two rooms designed for solar and wind energy studies;
  • Advanced equipment, including energy storage systems, solar panels, an inverter, and instruments for measuring meteorological indicators.

Thus, Kyiv Polytechnic students will acquire the professional skills, which will significantly enhance their technical expertise.

“The opening of specialized laboratories exemplifies corporate social responsibility of business, which DTEK Renewables demonstrates at our university,” noted Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. “An increasing number of such projects are being carried out at Kyiv Polytechnic, thereby improving the quality, efficiency and outcomes of the educational process. Our cooperation will expand opportunities for training specialists in the energy sector, making an important contribution to the country’s restoration.”

The next stage of cooperation between Kyiv Polytechnic and DTEK Renewables will focus on expanding the technical infrastructure and organizing workshops and lectures delivered by leading experts in renewable energy.
