MES brings together leading Ukrainian researchers in Kharkiv for World Science Day
On November 20, 2024, events dedicated to World Science Day for Peace and Development took place in the frontline city of Kharkiv. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Kharkiv Regional Military Administrationorganized the events. Our Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute also participated. The attendees included representatives of higher education institutions, academic institutes, and interested organizations.
The event addressed issues related to the transition to formula-based funding and presented the criteria and methodologies for evaluating research institutions and higher education institutions by scientific fields, which will be implemented next year.
From 2026, state funding will depend on numerous criteria to calculate an overall score.
Our university received three recognitions for key criteria critical to future funding:
📌 Certificate of Appreciation for the highest publication activity in international journals with high impact factors (Q1–Q2 quartiles);
📌 Certificate of Appreciation for the most effective participation in the EU’s Horizon Europe program;
📌 Certificate of Appreciation for the largest number of young scientists involved in scientific projects.
The event also highlighted key steps in transforming the scientific sector, focusing on process digitalization and simplifying reporting for scientific projects.
