Interdepartmental Working Meeting on Strengthening International Project and Grant Activities

An interdepartmental working meeting on strengthening international project and grant activities was held.

The meeting was attended by deputy vice-rectors on science, educational work and employees of the International Collaboration Department.

In his presentation, the vice-rector S. Sydorenko presented the decision of V. Pasichnyk, A. Melnychenko, N. Seminska, S. Sydorenko (vice-rectors on science and educational work) on the establishment of an interdepartmental group of English-speaking consultants in the number of 5-7 people who have experience in preparing “successful” international projects, to organize assistance to departments, 272 current scientific groups in writing English-language project proposals for submission to competitions of international project and grant programs.

The established group of consultants will work in the writing mode for a full day.

The meeting discussed all organizational and methodological issues to launch the activities of such a more effective “distributed consulting environment” and the interaction of deep scientific centers with this environment.

Separately, Vice-Rector S. Sydorenko emphasized the task of the “KPI Development Strategy untill 2025”: 3-5 times increase the number of project proposals submitted by the departments to the international project and grant programs.

Important issues are the restructuring of the work of ICD in accordance with the key ideas of the new system:

1) To relieve consultants, who should be engaged in writing the texts of project proposals throughout the working day, from overloading with organizational functions.

2) The new tasks are assigned to the head of the group of consultants S. Shukayev will be:

– organization of a group of consultants’ work;

– personal work with “deep components” (on writing the texts of project proposals);

– personal work with deans, directors (writing the texts of project proposals).

3) It is necessary to form a system of planning the work of those consultants who should write the texts of project proposals throughout the working day.

4)The task of increasing the number of project proposals from the departments becomes the task of the entire ICD, all departments, the entire management staff.

5) Strong horizontal interaction between vice-rectors should be organized – with coordination of the first vice-rector.

The next step in the implementation of the decisions is workshops for deputy deans for international activities, deputy deans for science, etc. In order to clarify the new system of work and training organizational and methodological techniques, mechanisms introduced by the decisions of the interdepartmental meeting of the leadership from September 10.

Such seminars-trainings will be held on the basis of each unit (faculty, institute).
