Launching the project titled “Strengthening the Resilience of Local Communities to Crisis Management”

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute together with Poznan University of Technology will overcome the consequences of the Russian occupation in Ukraine.

The SPS G6119 project “Strengthening the capacity of local communities to deal with crisis situations” won the competition under the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.

The project is planned to start in Bucha and eventually expand to the most affected regions of the south and east of the country.

On Friday, 2 February, the first online meeting of the project consortium was held to launch the project.

Information about the project:

Effective crisis management requires the ability of the authorities to anticipate negative situations (threats, accidents, failures, disasters), prepare resources to address them, as well as the legitimacy of governance and a broad understanding of the resilience of local communities.

The project involves studying the ability of those in power to exert social influence, legitimise power and social resilience in crisis management processes in Poland and Ukraine. Based on the results obtained, it is planned to develop a concept for improving the efficiency of the crisis management system in local communities.

Final beneficiaries of the project:

  • the local community (approximately 470 thousand inhabitants) of the Poznan Poviat, Wielkopolska Voivodeship (Poland)
  • local community (approximately 300 thousand inhabitants) of Bucha district of Kyiv region (Ukraine)

Project duration: 3 years

The project will be implemented by: Institute of Management and Information Systems of the Faculty of Management Engineering of the University (PUT) and the Department of International Economics of the Faculty of Management and Marketing (KPI)
